I’m so excited to be a part of an amazing project to help build farms for secondary schools in rural Zimbabwe. I’ve always had a servant’s heart; from volunteering in high school and throughout college, all the way to serving for twenty-seven months as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Through this amazing opportunity, I’ll be able to serve communities in need of a helping hand.
Our group is raising funds to help build new farms for secondary schools in the rural areas outside of Victoria Falls. These farms, stocked with cows, goats and chickens, will teach students how to have a successful farm and how to sell their goods in the market. The profits from the sales will be used to pay for lunch for the students who go 12-14 hours between breakfast and dinner. The long-term goal is to provide each graduating agriculture student with a female goat and two chickens, so they can start their own farm.
This trip speaks to me because of the time I’ve spent in rural Africa working with students that have so little and who are willing to work hard to have an education and better themselves. It always feel like I end up getting so much more out of serving than anything I’m able to give. Because of the many blessings in my life, it is important to me to be able to pay it forward in one way or another. I hope that you will help support this project and pay it forward to help these students and their community.
